I am pleased to announce the availability of a new application to the family, Cute TTY-VT50. This emulates the now absolutely ancient VT52 and VT55 terminals produced by DEC in the 1970s.
One of the more interesting features of the VT55 was the rudimentary graphics support, Waveform Graphics. CuteTTY emulates this as shown below.

Based on JADAPTIVE’s Terminal Components 4, CuteTTY-VT50 aims to provide an absolutely minimal and fairly authentic experience, with all configuration being done through command line options.
For example, there is built in support for using either a PTY (i.e. a local) shell, or a serial connection.
/opt/cutetty-vt50/bin/cutetty-vt50 -s /dev/ttyUSB0
See the built in --help option for more details, or find out more about the VT50 series and other DEC terminals at vt100.net.

Just one of the family
The VT52 and VT55 wasn’t DECs last (or first) terminal. And, CuteTTY-VT50 won’t be the only CuteTTY. In subsequent weeks, I’ll be introducing other new minimalistic emulators that follow the same ethos.
